Man of the Year, a 2006 Universal Studios release, was directed and written by Barry Levinson and starred
Robin Williams, Christopher Walken, Laura Linney, Jeff Goldblum, and Lewis Black. Man of the Year was the third collaboration between Barry Levinson and Robin Williams. Whereas Good Morning Vietnam (1987) enjoyed critical success, Toys (1992) and Man of the Year received poor reviews and were unsuccessful at the box office. In the case of Man of the Year, however, time has treated the film well. Whereas in 2006, the idea of a satirical news program commentator running for president seemed a step too far, in light of the elections of 2016 and 2020, the concept of Robbin Williams's character, Tom Dobbs, running and possibly winning the presidency is not so far fetched.
